Rearrange a room, how simple that might sound, could be a complicated and difficult job that might require you to take some time to do the job right. So, before you start the job, here’s some tips on how to rearrange your room (especially your bedroom and living room), hope will give you some help.
- Ask your landlord’s permission first.
Before you start moving around your furniture, be sure to ask permission from people living with or nearby you first, like parents, roommates, partners, or landlords. If you’ve got their permission then it’s all good, and hey, maybe you could use this as an opportunity to ask them to help you out as well. You’ll need other people help, especially when you move your very heavy and large furniture, like those big dresser or bed.
- Use furniture sliders to move big items.
A good idea to move large furniture easily is to put the furniture on sliders, that allow the furniture to be slided easily, without you worry about your floor to get scratched. You can buy these bad boys at housewares or home repair stores near your area.
- Throw out some of your stuff to make some space.
Before you begin to move any of your stuff around, you should tidy up your space first. Get rid of any unneeded and unwanted item, basically anything you don’t want to be in your room, such as old furniture, obsolete reading materials, or your friends’ belongings.
It might be hard to get rid of your old items, especially if you’re considered them as your collection, but it is a necessary step so you should stick with it. It’s okay if you need to spend several days digging through your bookshelf, getting rid of unwanted old books and reading materials, this is a great moment for you to do so.
- Thorough cleaning for a good starters.
It’s great to have a fresh and clean start, that includes your new rearranged room, so it makes sense to start the process by thoroughly clean the room. You should carefully clean the space around and under your furniture, ever corner of your room, even your walls and ceiling.
- Make a visualization of your new space.
Now after you have your room clean and uncluttered, you can start to make a plan how you would prefer the space organized. A good tip is to make a measurement first of your furniture, so you can be sure they’ll fit in the new spot you’d like them be.
It may be easier for you to draw first a visual layout about the new look you would like your room to have. So if you hate the new layout, you can just draw a new one instead of wasting your energy moving around your furniture looking for the best layout.
